Boisset has been a pioneer for innovation in the wine world at every stage of the winemaking process for decades, always with a commitment to:

  • The quality of the wines
  • The wine drinker’s experience
  • Reducing the wine world’s impact on our shared environment

We have embraced innovation throughout our history and our wineries. Making an unprecedented move for the tradition-bound Burgundian wine region, we united the family vineyards to create a single estate, Domaine de La Vougeraie, elevating it to one of the finest estates in Burgundy in just a few years. Against the advice of critics, we championed screwcap closures for the Grand Cru wines at Jean-Claude Boisset (the first Grand Cru sealed with screwcap). In order to become more deeply connected to the land, vines, and growers that produce the grapes for each of our wines, we evolved Burgundy’s centuries-old négociant business, creating a new model called “viniculteur”. Broadening our reach to an international level, we then pioneered the cultivation of the highest-quality Pinot Noir in Canada’s Niagara wine region where many said it could not be done.

Chief among our family’s innovations, however, has been our pioneering role in introducing the world to alternative packaging for wine. Click here to learn more about Boisset’s innovative use of alternative packaging.
