Dear friends,
I am very proud and excited to announce the launch of our monthly e-newsletter! Over the past year, we have embraced new technologies such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and more, like many in the wine world. I have started to blog for the Huffington Post and our winemaking team at DeLoach Vineyards created a blog to open the cellar doors to the public, virtually speaking, offering people an exclusive glimpse into the world of winemaking.
As much as I am constantly learning about these new technologies, I still have the desire to stay in touch and in tune with all of us in the world of wine and with our close partners via email in addition to all those social networking sites. I hope that these new e-newsletters will bring you useful information about our wines, offer you insight into trends in the wine industry, alert you to special events and unique opportunities, and we certainly hope, further enhance your appreciation for fine terroir-oriented wines.
Please forward this on to anyone you think might enjoy reading; we would be thrilled to hear from you. If you have thoughts to share, please email our marketing department with your comments and suggestions.
Warmest and faithfully personal wishes,
Jean-Charles Boisset
President
More Than 1.4 Million Meals Donated Through Boisset’s Fight Against Hunger
Boisset’s Fight Against Hunger was a project very near and dear to us at Boisset Family Estates in 2009. Faced with the tough economy at the end of 2008, we made the decision to focus our marketing dollars on cause-related marketing. We chose to champion the cause of hunger because in the world of fine wine, we are often privileged to experience exceptional meals and are always connected to the bounty of the harvest, while tens of millions of people in the U.S. go to bed hungry. We believe our connection to the harvest and to fine wine and food gives us an extra responsibility to be aware of and to fight against hunger.
Due to this fundamental belief, we made the commitment to donate a minimum of 1.2 million meals to local food banks through the sale of wines from DeLoach Vineyards, Lyeth Estate, Oceana Estates Riesling, and French rabbit. Every bottle of wine purchased through a participating retailer, restaurateur, or hotelier in the last quarter of 2009 from Boisset’s four wineries listed above helped supplement three meals for an American family in need.
To date, Boisset has donated more than 1 million meals to communities in Dallas, Indianapolis, the San Francisco Bay Area, Denver, and Boston. In the coming months, we will continue to fulfill our promises from the 2009 campaign, donating meals in Missouri, Florida Arizona, Illinois, and Georgia, helping us to easily exceed 1.4 million meals donated, 200,000 more meals than our initial commitment. We could not have done this without the help of our 500+ retail and on-premise partners throughout the United States and are touched by the amount of support and feedback we received from everyone.

Demeter Certifies DeLoach Vineyards Biodynamic®
Certified organic by CCOF in July 2008, DeLoach’s vineyards are now among just 64 Demeter certified Biodynamic® wineries / vineyards in the U.S.
In December 2009, Demeter granted DeLoach’s vineyards and garden their prestigious Biodynamic® certification. The longjourney from conventional farming to biodynamic farming began in 2004, when DeLoach ripped out its award-winning estate vineyards to start the conversion to Biodynamic® farming, a sustainable method that is often referred to as “beyond organic.” It couples organic practices with farming in accordance with the lunar cycle, and it treats the farm as a self-sustaining, self-contained eco-system.
Since 1994, Boisset had been practicing Biodynamic® farming in their estate vineyards in France -- in the vineyards that would become Domaine de la Vougeraie in 1999 -- and were so pleased with the health of the vineyards and the high-quality of fruit they yielded that the family made the decision to convert DeLoach not only to organic but to beyond organic farming to help protect and enhance its rich terroir. The first harvest in the estate vineyards will take place this fall.

DeLoach Partners with Organic Gardening Magazine
In celebration of its first harvest from its certified organic and Biodynamic® estate vineyards, DeLoach has partnered with Organic Gardening Magazine to offer its readers a chance to win a trip to stay at DeLoach’s private guesthouse in the Russian River Valley.
A national advertising campaign in print and online will be supported by retail point-of-sale materials for off-premise accounts, e-newsletters to all Organic Gardening subscribers, and a revitalized online presence for the DeLoach garden, where people will be able to get gardening tips from the experts at Organic Gardening as well as recipes and wine pairings inspired by the bounty available from our certified organic garden!
The contest will launch online approximately April 1st - keep an eye out for the contest's website address in next month's newsletter!
Raymond Vineyards Announces Two New Cabernets: The Sommelier Selection & Family Classic
Exclusive to on-premise and off-premise channels respectively
In March 2010, Raymond Vineyards will be launching two new Cabernet Sauvignons to the U.S. market: Sommelier Selection, a unique Cabernet Sauvignon exclusive for restaurants, and Family Classic, an off-premise exclusive that will retail for approximately $20. Each offer a unique blend of Napa, Sonoma and Lake County appellations, producing a distinct flavor profile that reflects the characteristics of the separate terroirs.
The 2007 Sommelier Selection is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, 64% of which is grown in Napa County, 27% Sonoma County, and 9% Lake County. The name Sommelier Selection denotes its channel exclusivity and its future as a true sommelier selection: in subsequent vintages, we will be bringing sommeliers to Raymond Vineyards to help us craft the blend, making this wine a sommelier selection in the most literal sense.
The wine is extremely food-friendly and ready to enjoy now yet with the structure to ideally complement classic Cabernet pairings such as steak. The wine is priced to thrive as an excellent value by-the-glass offering from an iconic producer in Napa Valley.
The 2007 Family Classic Cabernet Sauvignon is from the same prestigious appellations, with 70% Napa County, 24% Sonoma County, and 6% Lake County fruit. The name is our tribute to the Raymond family and their long and prestigious heritage in the Napa Valley as well as Raymond’s new family ownership. It also pays homage to our belief that good wine always tastes better when shared with those near and dear to you. It offers a soft, lush and velvety texture for Cabernet, while delivering a spicy pepper finish.
